The zodiac is a ring of space that around the Earth. It follows the Sun’s apparent path around Earth over the course of a year (although it is actually Earth that is moving around the Sun).
The zodiac has twelve well-known groups of stars known as constellations. Aries (ram), Taurus (bull), Gemini (twins), Cancer (crab), Leo (lion), Virgo (virgin), Libra (balance), Scorpius (scorpion), Sagittarius (archer), Capricornus (goat), Aquarius (water bearer), and Pisces (fish) (the fish).
For about one month of the year, ancient peoples observed how the Sun looked to pass in front of each constellation. (The constellation was not visible in the night sky at the time.) Animals are represented by the majority of constellations. As a result, the zone zodiakos was given the names kyklos, “circle of animals,” and ta zodia, “small creatures,” by the ancient Greeks.
Each symbol was linked to a specific time period. Because the Earth’s path has varied over time, the dates have altered as well. The old dates are still used by astrologers. Astrologers claim to be able to foretell the future by studying the positions of the stars and planets in the sky.

What is the sign of the zodiac’s child?
The Ram, also known as the “Child of the Zodiac,” is an upbeat, yet aggressive, warlike, belligerent individual whose catchphrase is “I am.” No one else, he or she may believe, is as vital as the Aries personality.
What are the characteristics of each zodiac sign?
We all have all twelve Signs on our Natal (birth) Charts somewhere (which is a picture of what the sky looked like the time you were born), and we flow through each Sign’s “season” throughout the year- so it’s crucial to get a handle on them all! Most people are aware of their Sun (star) Sign, but the position of the Moon in your Natal Chart (your Moon Sign) and the Sign rising on the horizon when you were born (your Rising/Ascendant Sign) are also important! You can acquire a free Natal Chart here, and you can learn more about your Rising Sign in this post.
Then there are the “Personal Planets,” Mercury, Venus, and Mars, which have a strong influence on us depending on the Sign they are in; the “Social Planets,” Jupiter and Saturn, whose transits can be extremely prominent for us; and the “Outer Planets,” Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, all of which have significant energies in their transits and placements. Each planet “rules” 1-2 Zodiac Signs and has considerable influences on them. For additional information, see our page on the Planets!
Each Sign also has an Element (Fire, Earth, Air, Water) and a Quality/Mode (Cardinal, Fixed, Mutable) that indicates whether it occurs at the start, middle, or end of a season. All of this adds to the flavor of their energies and distinguishes them from one another. A Fixed Fire Sign (Leo) differs from a Mutable Fire Sign (Cancer) (Sagittarius). The following is a list of their Elements and Modes:
ELEMENTS:
Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius are the fire signs. The burning passion, energy, excitement, and fearlessness associated with these Signs are stated to be present.
EARTH SIGNS = Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn – These are the earthy, grounded Zodiac signs. They are dedicated, realistic, and pragmatic individuals.
AIR SIGNS = Gemini, Libra, Aquarius – Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius are the Zodiac’s intelligent thinkers and talkers. They are rational, headstrong, and people-oriented.
SIGNS OF WATER = Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces – These are the Signs that are the most intuitive and emotional. They are emotionally and subconsciously aware, compassionate, and fluid.
Who is the zodiac’s mother?
Cancer is the mother of the zodiac and is ruled by the Moon. Females born under the sign of Cancer are very loving, compassionate, and emotional. They are full of strong ideals of love and caring, as well as strong innate maternal instincts that distinguish them as moms.
Who is the parent of all the signs in the zodiac?
Capricorn, the father of the zodiac, is the archetypal parent figure who values responsibility. They feel worthy when they take on responsibilities, and they like spending time with their loved ones. Capricorn men are thoughtful, nurturing, natural leaders and teachers, and one of the zodiac’s most emotionally sophisticated signs, learning to combine their rationality with their emotions. This sign’s men make excellent fathers.
