Astrology can be intimidating and muddled. The term “transitastrologers tend to use this term a lot because it is a highly important astrological term, and it is especially important in predictive astrology, so you may or may not be familiar with it.
The words “Jupiter moves into Scorpio” or “Venus switches signs and is now in Virgo” may not be recognizable to you, but they do refer to planetary transits.
You want to know how a transit will affect you most of all. What does Jupiter’s upcoming transit through Scorpio signify for you? What does Venus entering Virgo signify for you personally?
Let’s first define a transit to help you comprehend how planetary transits will impact you.
Astrology refers to the movements of the planets in relation to the Earth as “Transits.”
A transit occurs when the Sun moves across the sky and rises slightly to the east or west of where it did the day before. the Sun’s passage through.
A transit occurs when the moon is waxing or when it is a tiny sliver of a crescent moon when it is full and shining brightly in the night sky. Moon transits the Sun.
Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn all rise and set in various locations in the sky each day. These are transits as well.
The act or event of travelling across or through; a passage from one place to another is what the word “transit” is defined as.
A transit is only related to something, as we now know. You actually look at your natal chart in relation to the movement of the planets at a certain time when you want to know how a planetary transit will affect you.
The sky at the time of your birth and the sky at a specific time are constantly compared in a transit chart.
Suppose that you were born on January 1st, 1970. This is a static representation of your natal chart. A transit, however, can occur at any time. You can search for transits on any date, past or present, including June 5, 1998 and October 10, 2017.

To Read Your Transits, Follow This Process:
1. You click on the link on the astro.com landing page “Free natal charts
2. A prompt will then direct you to the page below. Click here “Additional chart options
4. To produce your natal chart, you will now create your guest profile. Please enter your name and the following information about your birth: birthday, time of birth, country, and place of birth.
5. Nearly there! You now select “Chart type” and get to “Natal chart with transits” by scrolling down. then you choose “the transits and natal chart.
Next, you head to “Start date for charts marked with an asterisk (*), and you enter the date of the desired transit. The current date is set by default, so if you’re interested in the transits for today, leave it there.
Example: Suppose you want to look for your transits on the day Jupiter entered Scorpio (October 10, 2017), so you choose this day “10 Oct 2017.
6. Your chart is generated, along with the planetary transits for October 10, 2017!
The location of the planets at the moment of your birth is represented by all the black planets inside the wheel. This is a chart of your birth. The planets outside the circle, which are colored green, stand for the planets’ transits, or their positions in the sky on October 10.
When reading transits, you essentially compare the planetary positions for the date you want a forecast for with the planetary positions at the time of your birth.
Now that you are aware of “In astrology, a transit is a comparison of the sky at the time of your birth with the sky on a specific day. Consider a comparison between a photograph of the sky taken before you were born and one taken presently.
You can observe where the planets are in the sky now in relation to where they were when you were born by comparing the two images. A transit is exactly like this.
Let’s use an example where you want to know how Jupiter’s entry into Scorpio will affect you.
You search for this where Jupiter is outside of the circle (if you want to see where Jupiter was positioned at the time of your birth, you would look inside the circle remember inside the circle is your natal chart, outside the circle, is the transit)
Jupiter’s location is marked in red.
Can you make it out? This is the transit of Jupiter.
You now want to find out how the passage of Jupiter will affect you. Find the corresponding number inside the circle by looking inside (from 1 to 12). Houses are the numbers from 1 to 12. A planet’s placement in a house at birth is known as the natal house placement. A transit occurs when a planet is outside the circle.
Your 12th house is in Jupiter inside the circle, you claim “Jupiter is in my 12th house by natal position. You say Jupiter is in your 12th house if it is outside the circle “Jupiter is presently moving through my 12th house.
Inside the circle, the planets remain constant. Your natal chart doesn’t alter. Though the planets outside the circle are constantly in flux.
This is how a transit is interpreted. You take note of the planets outside the sphere and the homes they travel through. Jupiter will make its way through your 12th house in the illustration below.
7. Consider one more instance. You wish to check the Moon in the same chart right now. You’re interested in learning which house in your natal chart the Moon is currently transiting.
8. Let’s look at a new, slightly trickier case now. Consider a scenario in which you read about the Leo solar eclipse at 28 Leo and are interested in learning which area of your horoscope will be impacted.
The ninth house is occupied by 28 Leo in the example below. The zodiac sign of Leo is divided into 30 little lines, each one denoting one zodiacal degree, even though you cannot see the 28. Therefore, the 28th line inside the sign of Leo is where you start counting.
You now know that from October 10th, when Jupiter enters Scorpio, until November 9th, 2018, Jupiter will be transiting the 12th house for someone born on January 1st, 1970 at 5:32 AM in LA, California. This means that issues pertaining to the 12th house will be in focus during this time.
PS: Please remember that there are various methods for calculating the houses (you may be more familiar with Placidus house system for example).
How is a transit to be read?
- Track down the eyepiece. The crosshairs can be focused by turning this.
- The leveling vial is located over the level’s range.
- The focusing knob is located at the end of the scope.
- The circular ruler marked with degrees that is used to read horizontal angles is known as the horizontal graduated circle.
- Just above the horizontal graded circle is the horizontal tangent knob, which is used to make left- and right-hand adjustments.
- On the near side of the scope, to the right, is a vertical tangent knob that can be turned to adjust up and down.
- The knob that locks the vertical direction in place is just past.
- Just below the horizontal graduated circle are the leveling screws. To maintain the object level, these can be modified.
- A detachable sunshade is available on some levels to shield the lens from sunlight.
How does astrology determine your transit?
According to Tripp, you can search at an ephemeris, or a table documenting all of the planets’ movements in the following months and years, to learn about transits in advance. If so, you can simply hold off until your astrologer next discusses a significant transit in the future.
What transits are crucial?
Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto transits, which can span months or even years, are the most important transits for making future plans.
Transits of Jupiter and Saturn can also be highly significant, but as they only occur for a few weeks at a time, they are more helpful for planning (or avoiding) specific actions in the future.
Unless you’re looking for very specific timing of activity, like an open cart, it is more effective to look at which houses Venus, Mars, and Mercury are currently transiting over rather than the aspects they are making to the natal chart. Venus, Mars, and Mercury move quite quickly around our chart and only transit our natal planets for a few days.
However, if you tried to keep track of all of your Venus, Mars, and Mercury transits annually, you would go insane!
Finally, because the moon and sun move so quickly, it is not very useful to think about transits involving them because they only last for a few hours or days. However, it is useful to think about which area of our charts the moon and sun are bringing energy to each day, week, and month, and I teach students how to do this in my program Your Soulful Year.
I will individually examine the area of my horoscope that the sun is bringing life and energy to each month, as well as the area that each new and full moon activates.
What is meant by the transit period?
The amount of time required for a shipment to be delivered after it has been picked up from its point of origin is known as the transit time. In essence, it refers to the time required to transport things from one location to another.
What is the duration of a transit?
The lifespan of a Ford Transit van can range from 160,000 to 300,000 kilometers if you take good care of it.
Ford determined the Transit’s service life to be 150,000 miles while testing it before it was made available to the public.
One Transit owner said his van has lasted for 161,000 miles and credited his vehicle’s life to careful driving.
A different driver reported coming across Ford Transits with service life of up to 300,000 km.
Despite this, these two drivers observe that when a van lasts that long, it frequently needs minor repairs.
How is a transit calibrated?
- Place the transport and tripod in the garage.
- Set the telescope’s position to “0.”
- To get the top bubble nearly level, adjust the screws.
- Turn the scope around by 180 degrees.
- return the angle to 0
- Return to a 180 degree turn.
- Place the bubble in the center by rotating the device 90 degrees and adjusting the bottom two screws.
The frequency of planet transits.
More rarely than eclipses, transits. On average, a Mercury transit takes place once every seven years. Venus transits, though, are a little more challenging. A second Venus transit happens eight years after the first one.
Chalit chart: what is it?
The position of the planets in the houses with respect to the real Lagna degree can be determined using the Bhava Chalit chart. The usage of this chart is essential for determining which house each planet genuinely belongs in.
Rashi Chart
Anyone who is familiar with the fundamentals of astrology is aware that the Rashis are the twelve portions of 30 degrees each that make up the 360 degree Zodiac. Mesha (Aries), Rishaba (Taurus), Mithuna (Gemini), Kark (Cancer), Simha (Leo), Kanya (Virgo), Tula (Libra), Vrishik (Scorpio), Dhanus (Saggitarius), Makara (Capricorn), Kumbha (Aquarius), and Meena are the Rashis that belong to these signs (Pisces). Any birth chart’s core framework is comprised of these Rashis.
A Graha is the owner of each Rashi. We consider the Rashi that the planet is positioned in when interpreting a chart. The position of that Graha and the Rashi’s dominance over them are quite significant.
Lagna
The birth chart’s Lagna or ascendant is its crucial component. This is so because the Lagna is where the chart’s dwellings are enumerated. For instance, in a Rashi chart, if the Lagna is in Rishaba (Taurus), the second house is Mithuna (Gemini), the third house is Kark (Cancer), and so on. This is predicated on the notion that the first house starts at the same degree that the Lagna Rashi starts.
Bhava Chalit / Bhav Chalit
Chalit indicates motion or movement and Bhav denotes a home. Thus, the houses are moved in the Bhava Chalit chart. When we build the Bhava Chalit chart in relation to the actual Lagna degree rather than the Rashi degrees, the house table moves.
The Rashi chart and the Bhav Chalit chart will be identical when the Lagna degree is in the midway of the Rashi itself, which is roughly 15 degrees. For charts where the Lagna degree is off from the midpoint of the Rashi, the Bhava Chalit Chart makes a significant difference.
Calculating The Bhava Chalit Chart
There are multiple ways to calculate the same item in Vedic astrology, as there are with the majority of its ideas. Chart for the Bhava Chalit is not an exception. There are two schools of thought regarding how to calculate this chart using the Equal House Method.
- choosing the Lagna degree to represent the Bhav Madhya, or center of the house
- establishing the home’s vantage point at the Lagna degree
The first approach is the more widely used one. The Lagna degree is used in this manner as the Bhav or house’s midpoint. We redraw the homes with the start of the house 15 degrees before the Lagna degree and the end of the house 15 degrees after the Lagna degree because each house has a 30-degree span. We then make the Lagna degree the centre of each house. When we do this, we’ll observe that some planets might migrate to the house before or after.
The birth location’s latitude and longitude are used to compute the degree span of each house using a different technique known as the unequal house method. Some astrologers have found great favor with this technique. The dwellings become incredibly lopsided at latitudes that are far farther from the equator, though.
Let’s look at two examples to better understand how the Lagna degree might truly alter the Bhava Chart. The planetary degrees are the same in our examples. However, in two examples, we will calculate the Bhava Chart with the Lagna at 9 degrees and 23 degrees, respectively.
- Gemini 20 Mercury
- Jupiter in Capricorn at 1
- Saturn in Capricorn at 6
- 5 Saggitarius Ketu
Why do transits happen?
“The term “transits” in astrology refers to the planets’ present-day motion, as opposed to their locations at your birth or at other significant moments in your life. Transits reflect our shared reality, the world we are all living in together, because they are tied to the present. The way we play the cards we are dealt by the worldthe transitsis what transforms us and shapes the direction of our destiny.”
