On February 1, 2022, what will the Moon look like?
On Tuesday, February 1, 2022, the lunar phase is New Moon. The Moon disc’s surface is not lighted. The Moon is in Aquarius for less than a day. This New Moon phase begins at 05:46 UTC on February 1, 2022.
What does it indicate when the moon is full in Aquarius?
The full Moon in Aquarius in August is in dialogue with the full Moon in Aquarius in July. Full Moons in Aquarius encourage you to embrace your uniquenesseccentricities, slight flaws, strengths, and alland be your most authentic self.
The Aquarius Moon casts a loving light on you, but not just for your own good. Aquarius is a humanitarian and global-minded sign that encourages you to put your talents to good use for the greater good. What can you do this month to help your community?
What exactly is the Aquarius moon?
Oddballs and anarchists are attracted to the Moon in Aquarius. They’re designed to keep an eye on, question, and disrupt. They are naturally quiet and noticeably different, and they frequently feel like outsiders, a lonely position that allows them to observe. They see everything and are enthralled by the scenery.
Lunar Aquarians are intellectuals who strive to eliminate detrimental or restrictive societal systems at their highest level. These folks value liberty and desire to assist others in achieving it. Take, for example, lunar Aquarius and Prince, the purple magnificence. The fear of being dependant or having others rely on them is the shadow side of this. As a result, for those with the moon in Aquarius, security can feel like a lack of attachment.
They give their partners a lot of independence in love relationships and want the same in return. When it comes to friends, they cast a strangely wide net, always willing to accept the quirkiness of others without judgment.
This lunar placement’s mother figure was a mixture of unstable flakiness and advanced thinking. She probably did better with teenagers she could converse to than with the children she was in charge of. The parent as pal dynamic is in charge of this moon placement.
Lunar Aquarians, like all air moons, are emotionally disconnected. These people, on the other hand, go a step farther, ignoring the uglier base impulses of envy, hatred, fear, and greed, wrongly assuming that they are above them. When repression fails, the consequences are harsh and unforeseen; think of abandoning someone at the altar, fleeing to a neighboring country, establishing a new name, and so on.
February 13-14
The bright star Pollux (the brighter of the twin stars in the constellation Gemini) will appear near the waxing gibbous Moon on Sunday night into Monday morning, February 13 to 14, 2022. As evening twilight fades, Pollux will appear around 3 degrees to the top left of the Moon (at 6:42 p.m. EST). Pollux will be around 4 degrees to the top right of the Moon when it reaches its highest point in the sky (at 10:27 p.m.). Pollux will rise first, about 7 degrees to the right of the Moon, near the start of morning twilight, below the northwest horizon (at 6:02 a.m).
February 16: The Next Full Moon
The next full Moon will occur on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at 11:57 a.m. EST, as previously stated. Around this period, the Moon will be full for nearly three days, from around midnight Tuesday morning to around midnight Thursday night. Regulus will be the brilliant star visible near the full Moon.
Mercury will achieve its greatest angular separation from the Sun as seen from Earth for this apparition (called greatest elongation) on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 16, 2022, at 3:59 p.m. EST, appearing half-lit through a large enough telescope. Because the angle between the Sun and Mercury and the horizon fluctuates with the seasons, the time when Mercury and the Sun appear farthest apart as seen from the Earth is not the same as the time when Mercury appears highest above the horizon at the start of morning twilight. This happened about a week ago.
February 20-21
The planet Saturn will begin to emerge from the warmth of dawn on Sunday morning, Feb. 20, 2022, as it will begin rising more than 30 minutes before sunrise.
The brilliant star Spica will appear near the waning gibbous Moon on Sunday evening into Monday morning, February 20 to 21, 2022. Spica will appear around 6 degrees to the upper right of the Moon as it rises above the eastern horizon about 3.5 hours after evening twilight ends (rising at 10:12 p.m. EST). On Monday morning, about 2 hours before morning twilight begins (at 3:57 a.m.), the Moon will reach its highest point in the sky, with Spica appearing around 7 degrees to the right.
As morning twilight begins on Monday, February 21, 2022, brilliant Venus will reach its maximum point, 15.5 degrees above the southeastern horizon.
February 23
The fading Moon will seem half-full on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 23, 2022, as it reaches its last quarter at 5:33 p.m. EST (but we won’t be able to see it from our location).
February 24
The bright star Antares will appear roughly 3 degrees to the right of the declining half Moon on Thursday morning, February 24, 2022. About 4 hours before morning twilight begins, the Moon will rise over the east-southeastern horizon (1:46 a.m. EST).
The planet Jupiter will be visible in the glow of dusk for the last time on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022, as it will set around 30 minutes after sunset.
February 27: A Chance to See the Moon and Four Planets
The planet Mars will appear about 5 degrees to the higher left of the thin, waning crescent Moon on Sunday morning, February 27, 2022, with the bright planet Venus appearing further to the top left to create a line with Mars and the Moon. The Moon will rise 45 minutes before morning twilight above the east-southeastern horizon (at 5:01 a.m. EST). Mercury will rise more to the bottom left of the Moon when morning darkness begins (at 5:46 a.m.). As morning twilight begins, Mercury will be the final planet visible over the east-southeastern horizon. The planet Saturn will rise to the bottom left of Mercury 9 minutes later (at 5:55 a.m.).
You may have roughly a 15-minute window to see the Moon and all four of these planets before the sky turns too bright with dawn’s glow, depending on viewing conditions.
February 28
On the east-southeastern horizon on Monday morning, Feb. 28, 2022, you might be able to see the planet Mercury to the left of the thin, waning crescent Moon, with the fainter planet Saturn to the lower left of Mercury. About 7 minutes after morning twilight begins, Saturn will be the last planet to rise. Venus and Mars will be visible in the upper right corner of the Mon. In less than 20 minutes, the sky will become too bright to see these planets.
March 2: New Moon
You could be able to view Mercury and Saturn rising less than 3/4 degree apart on Wednesday morning, March 2, 2022, when morning twilight begins, with Mercury being the brighter of the two. You’ll need a clean view of the east-southeastern horizon and probably binoculars to see them (especially if you have to wait until they are higher in the sky when the sky will be brighter). Saturn will rise three minutes after morning twilight begins (at 5:44 a.m.), Mercury will rise two minutes later to the lower right of Saturn, and they will be obscured by the glow of dawn less than 20 minutes later.
The new Moon will occur on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at 12:35 p.m. EST, when the Moon will pass between the Earth and the Sun and will not be visible from Earth.
For most lunisolar calendars, the new month begins on the day of or the day after the new Moon. On Thursday, March 3, 2022 (at midnight in China’s time zone, which is 13 hours ahead of EST), the Chinese calendar’s second month begins. Lunisolar calendars employ lunar cycles for months, but add a “leap” month every now and again to keep the calendar in sync with the solar seasons. The Hebrew calendar has a leap month this year, with the second Adar beginning at sundown on Thursday, March 3. The first sighting of the waxing crescent Moon in the Islamic calendar usually begins the month. Many Muslim communities now utilize the Saudi Arabian Umm al-Qura Calendar, which employs astronomical calculations to begin months in a more predictable manner. Using this schedule, the start of Sha’ban, the month preceding Ramadan, will most likely be on Thursday evening, March 3.
March 4
The thin waxing crescent Moon will appear in the evening sky for the year on Friday, March 4, 2022, like an upward-facing bowl or a smile (in the Washington, D.C. area and similar latitudes, at least). This is known as a “Cheshire” or “Wet” Moon. The phrase “Wet Moon” comes from Hawaiian mythology, where the Moon looks as a bowl that might fill up with water, according to Wikipedia. When viewed from the latitudes of the Hawaiian islands, the time of year when this occurs roughly correlates to Kaelo the Water Bearer in Hawaiian astrology. The crescent form tilts as the year progresses towards summer, emptying out the water and creating the summer showers. The phrase “Cheshire Moon” comes from Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, when the Cheshire Cat smiles. As evening twilight ends (at 7:02 p.m. EST), the Moon will be around 13 degrees above the western horizon and will set about 77 minutes later (at 8:19 p.m.).
March 5
The planet Saturn will begin rising above the east-southeastern horizon before morning darkness begins on Saturday, March 5, 2022, and will shift toward Venus and Mars over the following mornings.
Jupiter will also pass on the far side of the Sun as seen from Earth on Saturday morning, March 5, 2022, which is known as conjunction. Jupiter will migrate from the evening sky to the morning sky when it travels outside of Earth’s orbit, and will emerge from the brightness of dawn on the eastern horizon after March 25.
March 10
The Moon will seem half-full on Thursday, March 10, 2022, as it reaches its first quarter at 5:45 a.m. EST (but we won’t be able to see it from our location).
The Moon will be at apogee on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at 6:04 p.m. EST, its farthest from the Earth during this orbit.
March 12-13
The bright star Pollux (the brighter of the twins in the constellation Gemini) will appear near the waxing gibbous Moon on Saturday evening into Sunday morning, March 12 to 13, 2022. As evening twilight ends (at 7:10 p.m. EST), the Moon will be about 70 degrees above the southeastern horizon, with Pollux about 4 degrees to the left of the Moon. About an hour later (at 8:18 p.m.), the Moon will reach its highest point in the sky for the night, with Pollux to the upper left. Pollux will be in the upper right around 6 hours later on Sunday morning (just about the time we switch from EST to EDT). About 2 hours later, the Moon will set on the west-northwestern horizon (at 5:04 a.m. EDT)
March 13: Daylight Saving Time Begins
Remember to “spring forward” on Sunday, March 13, 2022, when we transition to Daylight Saving Time! Consider between 2:00 and 2:59 a.m. on March 13, 2022, if you’re writing a story and need something to happen at an unreal hour. This won’t exist for much of the United States.
March 15-16
The brilliant star Regulus will appear near the waxing gibbous Moon on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, March 15 to 16, 2022. The Moon will seem 40 degrees above the eastern horizon when evening twilight ends (at 8:13 p.m. EDT), with Regulus about 6 degrees to the lower right. Around midnight (11:46 p.m.), the Moon will reach its highest point in the sky for the night, with Regulus showing below it. Regulus will appear below the Moon and barely around 2 degrees above the west-northwestern horizon as morning twilight begins on Wednesday morning (at 6:20 AM).
Despite the fact that Venus and Mars have been close throughout this lunar cycle, they will be at their closest on Wednesday morning, March 16, 2022, when they will be 3.9 degrees apart. Bright Venus will show 13 degrees above the east-southeastern horizon as morning darkness begins (at 6:20 a.m. EDT), with Mars to the lower right. At 4 degrees above the horizon, Saturn will look more to the lower left.
March 18: The Full Moon After Next
The next full Moon will occur on Friday, March 18, 2022, at 3:18 a.m. EDT. Around this time, the Moon will be full for about three days, from Wednesday night to Saturday morning.
In February 2022, will there be a full moon?
Every 29.5 days, the moon reaches the peak of its full phase. As a result, there is a full moon practically every month (although sometimes February lacks one, as it did in 2018). On February 16, 2022, at 16:56 UTC, the moon will be full (11:56 a.m. EST). The full moon is a global event. So that clock time is when the moon will be completely illuminated, not when the full moon will appear.
The full moon, which is opposite the sun, will rise in the east at sunset and burn brightly in the sky all night for all of us.
In western mythology, each full moon is given a name. The full moon in February is known as the Snow Moon or Hunger Moon. In northern North America, February is usually the snowiest month. As a result, some Native Americans considered it to be the most difficult month for hunting, hence the moniker Hunger Moon.

Bright star near February full moon
The full moon appears in the constellation Leo the Lion tonight. Regulus, Leo’s brightest star, is the brilliant star near tonight’s moon. The Lion’s Heart is represented by Regulus.
In reality, the full moon in February is always in the area of this star. You might view the moon to the north, west, south, or east of Regulus on this February 2022 night (or a night or two around now), depending on where you are on Earth. Regulus shines directly to the right of the moon as it rises in the darkening eastern sky at sunset this year, as seen from the Western Hemisphere. The moon and Regulus will have climbed very high in the south when midnight approaches. They’ll have shifted their positions to the point where the star is just to the bottom right of the silvery orb by that time. Regulus will be below the moon when the moon reaches the western horizon one hour before sunrise. For us in North America, the star sets 30 minutes before the moon.
Regulus may be difficult to see due to the large quantity of glare caused by the brightly lit moon. Block the moon with your hand or position yourself so that a far foreground object, such as a big tree limb, blocks the moon for a better view. The star appears in the horizon!
What is syzygy?
By the way, the moon must be opposite the sun in the sky to look full to us. The full moon rises in the east as the sun sets in the west. Every full moon rises at sunset, reaches its highest point in the sky at midnight, and sets at daybreak. Astronomers have given this direct sunEarthmoon alignment a specific name. The alignment is referred to as syzygy. Because the full moon is opposite the sun, the full moon in February will be approximately six months from now. Every August 23, the blindingly bright sun passes just behind Regulus in the sky.
The Snow Moon, also known as the Hunger Moon, rises in the east on February 16 in the constellation Leo, not far from the brilliant star Regulus.

On March 4th, 2022, what occurred to the Moon?
On March 4, 2022, at roughly 7:25 a.m. EST, a rocket part crashed on the moon, as predicted. It collided with the moon’s far side, where lunar orbiters were unable to see the impact, in the 350-mile-wide Hertzsprung crater. Although humans weren’t able to see it from Earth, the collision created a plume of dust that may have remained for hours, according to National Geographic.
