What Zodiac Sign Is Scales

The scales (interestingly, the sole inanimate thing in the zodiac) represent Libra, an association that underscores Libra’s preoccupation on balance and harmony. Libra is fixated on symmetry and strives for balance in all aspects of life. The zodiac’s aesthetes are the air signs: Libras admire fine art, intellectualism, and connoisseurship, and are ruled by Venus, the planet of love, beauty, and money. Suave Libras need to be surrounded by beautiful things and build situations that reflect their refined tastes. As a result, these air signs make great interior designers, art critics, and stylists.

What is the significance of the Libra sign being a scale?

The sign for this constellation was most likely picked because of Libra’s location in the night sky. They were considered to represent the scales used to weigh night and day, which were perfectly balanced on the equinox date.

The two claws of the constellation Scorpius (the Scorpion) were turned into the arms of Libra by the Romans. To the poet Aratus and others of classical times, Libra was once known as “the Claws” of Scorpius the Scorpion.

In fact, two of Libra’s stars, Zubeneschamali and Zubenelgenubi, have Arabic names that indicate “Northern Claw” and “Southern Claw,” respectively. Zubeneschamali also has a subtle greenish hue, making it the only green star visible to the human eye. Scorpius’ two claws were eventually fashioned into Libra’s arms.

After I gave a night sky display and pointed out Libra to my audience, one of the long-time lecturers at New York’s Hayden Planetarium chastised me. “Listen, the correct pronunciation is “L-bra,” not “Lee-bra,” he explained. It’s important to remember that you’re going to a “L-brary,” not a “Lee-brary!”

I didn’t trust him at first, especially since I knew that the word library came from the Latin word “libraria” (meaning “book”), but Libra was Latin for “balance,” making the two words completely unrelated.

When I got home and did some research, I discovered that the World Book Encyclopedia (Field Enterprises Educational Corporation) recommended LY-bruh, while The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language (Houghton Mifflin Company) accepts both L and L.

Now, everytime I see Libra, I think of my former Hayden colleague, and I emphasize the L as a tribute to him.

Have you ever wondered why the term pound is abbreviated as “lb”? It’s in honor of Libra’s first and third letters, the Scales.

What are the three different types of Libras?

Libras with Mercury in Virgo, Libras with Mercury in Scorpio, and Libras with Mercury in Libra are the three sorts of Libra Suns. Additionally, Mercuries in Libra with Libra Mercury are either in the morning phase, evening phase, or combust.

People sometimes comment about how September Libras are different from October Libras. Not all Libras born in September have Virgo Mercury, and not all Libras born in October have Scorpio Mercury! Mercury is never more than 28 degrees from the Sun, so a September Libra Mercury is more likely to be a Virgo Mercury, while an October Libra Mercury is more likely to be a Scorpio Mercury.

Libra with Virgo Mercury: Double Life

Libras who have a Virgo Mercury live a parallel existence in certain ways. This is a Sun in autumn, with Mercury exalted. These individuals are conscious of external expectations about who they should be, and this makes them aware of the ways in which they may live up to those standards as well as the ways in which they may depart from those expectations.

When Virgo Mercuries are connected to a Libra Sun, they work best when they operate almost independently of the dominant identity. This is the individual who has kept a secret writing practice for much of their life and only shows it to a few people. It’s the person who blends in so well with their workplace that they have a secret, rebellious punk music career.

Mercury in Virgo will make an appearance in some fashion. The Libra Sun, on the other hand, is a Sun that likes to play with what other people can and can’t see. Mercury’s desire to be heard isn’t always the same as the Sun’s ability to control it, and Libra with Virgo Mercury can be tortured by the fear that people know them too well or not at all.

Libra with Libra Mercury: Flaneur

Libras who have Mercury as a morning star, Libras who have Mercury as an evening star, and Libras who have Mercury combust are the three types of Libras.

This is the archetypal Libra: always occupied with one form of class or another, a social learner who prefers that the entire group move along in a conversation lest a stray notion pits one portion of the group against the other.

Without even realizing it, Libras with Libra Mercury frequently find themselves in seminars on the most current issues, whether it’s studying how to ignite a fire or deciphering a cryptic text. This isn’t due to a desire to impress others. They’re interested in what everyone is interested in since that’s where they perceive the potential for movement and direction, and they want to learn together.

Mercury is partnered with a Sun that steals identities from the ether in this traditional politician’s Mercury. It’s one of the zodiac’s most intriguing signs, but because it’s largely interested in what most people are interested in, it can wander around aimlessly as a stranger strolling through an unfamiliar city.

Libra with Scorpio Mercury: Lawyer

With this coupling, I meet a lot of people who are well-versed in legal matters, whether they are lawyers or not. Don’t believe the myths about Scorpio and attorneys; Libra Sun with Scorpio Mercury isn’t any more persuasive than anyone else. It’s that they can look at something and immediately recognize the core issue at hand.

Libra is paired with Scorpio. Mercury is well-versed in the ways of the world. They can observe not only the rules, but also how they are enforced, the “why” of the regulations, and whether any changes can be made to the rules, either around or against them. They are adept at dealing with bureaucracy not because they are bureaucrats, but rather because they understand how to bend the rules.

The combination of Libra and Scorpio Mercury is quite potent. I’ve witnessed people who are capable of effecting meaningful change where it is most needed. Because they are slow and methodical thinkers, Libra with Scorpio Mercury does not work well in a crisis (that task is more Libra with Virgo Mercury’s speed), but they are able to strive for fundamental and enduring change.

Libra is a Greek god.

Libra is frequently associated with Greek mythology, particularly Themis, the Goddess of Justice. She is frequently shown as a blindfolded woman holding the scale in her hands as the goddess of justice. In addition, she is Astraea’s mother.

Is the 22nd of October a Libra or a Scorpio?

The sun enters aquatic Scorpio on October 22 or 23, after spending a month in airy Libra. If your birthdate is within a few days of these dates, you may be classified as a Libra-Scorpio cusp.

Being born at one of the sun’s zodiacal ingresses does not automatically make you a combination of two signs. Planets can only be in one zodiac sign at a time, so even if you were born during Libra season’s final hour, you’re still a Libra sun.

That isn’t to say that someone born on the Libra-Scorpio cusp can’t have a healthy dose of both energies in their horoscope. Mercury and Venus are always near to the sun in the zodiac, therefore a Libra born in late October is likely to have some Scorpio planets in their horoscope (or vice versa for an October Scorpio). This could emerge as someone who possesses both Libra and Scorpio features, or what are known as Libra-Scorpio cusp characteristics.

All zodiac signs can feel the shifting energies when the sun transits through this section of the sky, regardless of whether they were born near the Libra-Scorpio cusp or not. As we begin our autumn trip, Libra season always begins on the day of the fall equinox, which aids us in finding balance and forming social ties. However, once the sun enters Scorpio, we tend to become more introspective, and the surface-level connections we had throughout Libra season have the potential to become more intimate and personal. Each planet’s journey through the zodiac depicts a journey, and in the case of the Libra-Scorpio cusp, this energy ushers us into the heart of autumn while asking us to create trust with those around us.

While being a cusp sign isn’t exactly an astrological idea, if you were born near the sun’s movement between the two signs, you can still have a lot of Libra and Scorpio zodiac energy in your chart. If that’s the case, knowing the Libra-Scorpio cusp attributes will help you make sense of your most distinctive characteristics.

Is the 20th of October a Libra or a Scorpio?

From October 19 to October 26, the Libra Scorpio Cusp is active. People born on this cusp are those who were born between the conclusion of the Libra season and the beginning of the Scorpio season. These individuals are a mix of drama and criticism. They are affected by two powerful planets: Venus, Libra’s ruling planet, and Pluto, Scorpio’s ruling planet. Pluto is the planet of darkness and mystery, while Venus is the planet of love and beauty. As a result, those born on the Libra-Scorpio cusp display both love and mystery. So, here’s what you need to know about their personality characteristics.

Are Libras tall people?

Librans have a physical appearance that is quite balanced, as their Zodiac sign of scales suggests. They have a well-balanced body, and even if they gain weight, it is distributed evenly across their entire body. As a result, the physical characteristics of Libra are not so distinctive that they can be easily identified in a crowd. Librans, both male and female, are of average height and build. They have a smooth movement and have a curved body. A Libran woman with a slim figure is hard to come by.

Librans have a healthy glow to their skin. Their hair is silky, curled, and light in color. They are often tall and thin, but as they become older, they tend to gain weight. Their face is fairly symmetrical, with a spherical top and a long, tapering chin. The Librans’ lips are precisely sculpted. Their voice is smooth and beautiful, and it has the ability to both draw and demand attention from everyone. Many Librans have a natural talent for singing.

Is it possible for Libras born in October to be toxic?

Libra, which is represented by the scales, appears to be quite balanced. However, they, too, have a list of harmful characteristics. If you’re a Libra, you can struggle with indecisiveness, moodiness, and a desire to please others. “Their grace and charm, on the other hand, stem from internal inadequacies and a subtly manipulative attitude. They’re also not particularly skilled at dealing with conflict.”
